How is Human trafficking related to Arms and Drug trafficking?
Q. I watched lord of war and have to tie in Human trafficking to Arms/Drug smuggling and don't exactly no how. I also have to target a specific country. He someone could post links to articles it would be a great help.
Asked by T - Wed Feb 24 19:36:09 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They frequently go hand-in-hand because once an organization has a network in place, it doesn't matter what illegal "goods" you're smuggling - you can use the network for anything. They've got lists of safe houses and customs agents who can be bribed and distributors for both arms/drugs and human beings. Both types of smuggling are also quite lucrative.

Where should I go to fight human trafficking?
Q. I want to dually study abroad and combat human trafficking and I need some help finding the best group in a major city with a university I can go to. I am leaning towards Eastern Europe since I am of Russian descent and Thailand has that awful civil war. I would love to go to Chile or Argentina, but as far as I know it is not as big of an issue. However, with the earthquake I would imagine Chile being a festering ground for human traffickers taking advantage of people.

How much cocaine has to be in your possession to be charged with trafficking?
Q. How much cocaine do you have to be caught with for it to be considered drug trafficking.
Asked by ~~Smiley~~~ - Thu Mar 26 20:33:34 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The amount of the cocaine is irrelevant. To be charged with trafficking there are two elements: 1) possession of a controlled substance 2) with an intent to deliver the same If the circumstances of the possession show an intent to traffic, then any amount would suffice, even an amount of baking powder. Some examples showing intent to traffic: passes a baggie of 1 gram of cocaine in exchange for US currency possesses 5 grams of cocaine in 5 individual baggies marked $5 each along with extra baggies and no use paraphernalia. Possesses a large quantity of cocaine too much for personal consumption. Possesses 3 small baggies of cocaine with a firearm, rolled US currency, a digital scale, empty baggies, and a notebook of drug shipping… [cont.]

Q. I would really love to work, not just volunteer, to prevent human trafficking. Is the only way to get a non-profit management degree and become a director of an organization? I'm not really leadership material, I don't think. But I would love to do something meaningful like this as my life's work, to give my life meaning. If anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful.

Why does the Russian Government not offer support to the victims of trafficking?
Q. Ok, I know that the Russian government is begining to help out but it is still considered a 2 Tier Country. So my questions is: why does the Russian government not offer more support to trafficking victims? Is it because of money? Corruption? All of the above? Thanks! And if you could provide any resolutions to the UN on this issue I would appreciate it.
Asked by Chaoi - Mon Jan 8 21:15:56 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You will not like this answer, but part of the problem is that the majority of women are considered by the Russian government to have entered into the sex trade voluntarily. They may be smuggled, but as they are not considered victims, they are not considered to be trafficked. Also, there is very little money designated for such social programs.

How can I teach 9th graders about human trafficking?
Q. I am doing a unit on human trafficking. My class does not have access to a computer lab. What interesting activities can they do to learn about human trafficking without computers?
Asked by Regina F - Sat Apr 5 12:07:38 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Because human trafficking is such a contemporary issue, your best info is going to be on the internet. I suggest printing out articles (hrw.org is a good site) and giving them to students. Also, PBS and National Geographic have copies of their videos available for teachers to purchase, but that may take a long time, and I don't know what your timeline is. Human Trafficking is a little vague. . . are you talking about young girls being kidnapped and sold as sex workers? The increase of domestic workers overseas as a major export for 3rd world countries? Illegal Immigration? Good luck. I think that it is wonderful that you're teaching students about contemporary global issues.

how can i relate the three main sociological perspectives to drug trafficking?
Q. I am doing a final paper and i need to relate the three main sociological perspectives to drug trafficking: functionalist, symbolic interactionist, and the post modern theory. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Asked by megg7491 - Fri Dec 5 15:10:17 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I will provide a brief outline. Using the functionalist perspective explain how drug trafficking is "functional" to the social system or to particular groups within a system (focus on one single system like Columbia). What function does it provide to the people? Perhaps it provides jobs for thousands who did not have them. Or, in the alternative, look at the ghettos in the USA. Young boys serving as lookouts on the street corners when the dealers are engaging in their exchange with buyers. These young boys make $100+ daily. Such allows them to purchase food, housing, etc. It is functional in a way. The Symbolic interactionist might suggest that those individuals involved have created their own social system, with a hierarchy, an… [cont.]

What would a Utilitarian and a Kantian think about prostitution or human trafficking?
Q. Writing a paper where I need to first explain how to apply Utilitarianism in making moral decisions, what a Utilitarian would think about prostitution or human trafficking then compare/contrast with a Kantian's view on the subject and how they apply Kantian ethics in making moral decisions. help is needed and appreciated!!! thank you in advance
Asked by CAMPZ - Tue Oct 27 08:52:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Utilitarianism is judging an action by the utility of it.s outcome as it affects everything. Eating a sandwich is therefore good if you gain nutrition or pleasure, and bad if you throw up or get fat or if the rest of the world starves because you ate the last sandwich. Prostitution would be good if it proves income for the prostitute and pleasure for the customer, or bad if corrupts the morals of the society. So, it seems that Utilitarianism doesn't define prostitution as good or bad without adding sn ethical element to it. I don't think that utilitarianism has ethics, other than those defined by the utility of the action. Human trafficking would seem to benefit the trafficker and harm the traffickees and so be judged wrong because it… [cont.]

A. Okay, I could be totally wrong, and I don't know how much if any, this would actually help ... but the only idea I came up with is ... Maybe prostitution should be legalized (I'm not sure if it is in some places or not). Maybe that would just take some of the illegal activity out of that trade. If it's legal, maybe it can be overlooked better. just a thought.

How can countries prevent child sex trafficking?
Q. How can countries prevent child sex trafficking? Or track it with in their country? I mean like how do they seperate the people being trafficked from just normal people? Without forcing people to have a chip, which would just increase peoples conspiracy beliefs, and give more reasons for people not to trust government.

A. This is a sad subject. As long as there are pedophiles there will be child sex trafficking.Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot we can do. We can report what we know and that might help save a child. Believe me in my Community we protect our children. Registered Sex offenders have it though, especially the ones who hurt small children.

A. Reward? In Canada? The reward you will get is knowing you have done the right thing, saving someone's life and dignity. THat is priceless. Contact your local police department or the RCMP - their jurisdiction is much broader. Make sure you have something concrete to back up your allegations.

A. 1. The USA should refuse to do any business with any country that does not have strict laws against it. 2. Increase the punishment to death. 3. More social programs that assist poor women and children in the world so they can hopefully not get stuck in this position.
