Q. What is the highest education level you need to obtain to earn a high salary in the Investment Banking Field?
Asked by Gregory B - Fri Feb 22 20:49:25 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You could get your Bachelor's and work you way up to a high salary, OR you could get your MBA and not have to work as long to get the high salary. Either way, investment banking is probably a profession that requires experience.

How to answer Salary questions on Job application?
Q. I have been talking to an employer for 3-4 months now. I have been asked to visit them for a (final) in-person interview in early January. I have already been through several layers of phone interviews, but no salary discussions yet. I have previously provided the company with a copy of my resume. Today they have asked me to fill out a job application. The application has a section on previous history together with the begining and ending salary information. I was wondering MUST I fill out the salary sections, or can I just leave the salary fields blank since I do not want them to make me an offer based on what I am earning currently or what have earned in the past. Obviously, I want to earn significantly more than my current job,… [cont.]

A. Most companies will demand the salary info so that they can verify it. Hate to tell you but your offer usually IS based on your prior salary and work history. If the company extends an offer you aren't happy with, you can always counter-offer. Just make sure you tack a couple thousand annually extra to give them more room to counter, your counter. Professional business people almost always counter the initial salary offer, that is just business.

What salary range should I seek as a new graduate in Computer Information Systems?
Q. I am a senior at James Madison University studying Computer Information Systems and I plan to pursue a career in IT Consulting or Advisory. One question I am consistently asked in interviews is what my salary expectations are. The problem I am having is that I don't know what I should be expecting; I don't want to sell myself short, but I also don't want to bid too high for a job I would have really enjoyed. Where should I look to get a really good grip on what starting salary range I should expect?

A. In the US, GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) states the following for any assumption 30 days in one month 360 days in one year 2080 hours in a full time working job. Take hourly and multiply by 2080 to come up with annual salary. This would include vacation or any other paid time off (if available) So, $12 an hour $24,960 annually

Asked by andrew - Wed Jan 31 19:39:15 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. In Canada, Annual earnings for plastic surgeons vary depending on experience, the number of hours worked, and the type of procedures they do. Most plastic surgeons earn between $70,000 and $375,000 a year. However, this number does not take into account their expenses, such as staff salaries and the purchase of equipment and insurance. It also does not include the money they make from performing cosmetic procedures. Cosmetic surgery, such as facelifts, is not covered by the government, but many people are willing to pay the costs of such procedures themselves. Earnings from these procedures can greatly increase a plastic surgeon s income. In addition to their salaries, most plastic surgeons who work for medical organizations such as… [cont.]

How much salary market for aircraft licensed technician in Dubai?
Q. Got offer to work in Dubai for one airline. Initial salary package 12k/month, with possibility annual increase. Just for standard living, for single and may be just rent a room for accomodation. Is it comfortable to live in Dubai with this salary?.
Asked by guardhiola2 - Sat May 31 00:47:53 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Having lived all my life in Dubai, I can assure you that you are getting a reasonably good start. If you are single and donot have very expensive after work habits, you will find this amount very comfortable to lead a good normal life. You would spend about 35-40% on housing and another 15-20% on good decent eating. The rest would be your savings. Just make sure you are provided transportation by the airline. I know a lot of people who, as singles, lead a happy comfortable life and have a ball of a time on week ends and holidays. They are in the 8-10k bracket per month. Remember, Dubai is as expensive or cheap as you want to make it. Take my advice and accept the offer, you will not regret it.

What is the minimum salary a person can live off of?
Q. My dream job is to become a zoo keeper. However, zookeepers don't have a large salary (around 27,000). At all. My mom thinks the idea of following that career is ridiculous, and has expected me to make at least 70k! I doubt the salary of a zookeeper will be enough to live off of, even for a single person living in an apartment. Out of curiosity, what do you think the "minimum" salary is a person can live off of?
Asked by Crystal - Wed May 14 17:56:46 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Depends on where you live. If you rent a apt cost $700 monthly and all the bills can keep it low to $100 per month. It will cost you $9,600 per year. $2,7000 is before or after tax? I assume after tax, you still can get $2,1600. So $21,600 - $9,600 (rental and bills). You still have $12,000 annually. $1000 per month is not bad, right? And besides, it is not hard to make 70K per year! Most of my friend has that much...again, depends on which state you live!

Q. What salary should I request for this job: Part-time educational guide. This position is responsible for conducting curriculum-based tours to groups of children age K-12th grade. Preferred candidates must have an undergraduate degree in education. The work hours are from Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 2pm. They say to fax resume and salary requirements. How much should I ask for? I have a B.S. ED in Elementary education and am a certified K-8 teacher. I have 6+ years working with children. I forgot to mention that the job is at the world's premier horticultural display.

A. I cannot believe that someone just suggested 1900 bucks a month for a 15 hour a week job. Ridiculous. Full time teachers with their own classrooms make 3000 a month, and we work 60+ hours a week. I think 1000/month would be more reasonable. That comes down to almost 17 bucks an hour. That may still be to steep. Good luck though, it sounds like a fun job. Our school district has an environmental center like that that the kids travel to each year for field trips. They love it!

A. Check out the web links below. You don't say what kind of architect you are, which could affect your salary, but these sources might help. The first link is a listing of the salary range for engineers and architects in San Francisco. The second is a link to Salary.com, where you can enter the job title to search on, and the zipcode you will be working in, and it gives you a salary range. The final link is for the American Institute of Architects in San Francisco. You can find information there, and also visit their offices for more details on what to expect. Best of luck to you!!
