A. Over 1 million dollars CASH. None of it was mine. I was working in the cash vault of a bank at the time. Largest check: $45,000. It was actually a loan offer, so I shredded it. Prize: Under $100.

How large was the largest crossbow poundage used in Middle Ages crossbows?
Q. The largest crossbow I've seen got 250 pounds. I've heard that Middle Ages crossbows got even higher poundage ratings. What is the highest poundage that any crossbow has ever achieved? Also, what is the longest draw length of any crossbow?
Asked by Alec Randerson - Tue Dec 22 01:10:48 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I don't know the prcise answer to your question but I expect that crossbows with 300 pound draw weights were not uncommon. In the latter part of the Middle Ages, military crossbows were made with heavy steel bows that required the use of rack and pinion or pulley systems to draw them to the ready position. However even the most powerful crossbows of the Middle-Ages were puny compared to a Roman Ballista. The Ballista was a crew served crossbow-like weapon. The "bow" was two seperate pieces. Each arm of the Ballista was inserted into a large twisted bundle of sinews which provided the spring power. The engine was c0cked with the aid of a windlass built into the stock. Allegedly ballistae were powerful enough to throw a heavy javelin… [cont.]

What is the largest dog breed in the world?
Q. Consider height and or weight...Irish wolfhounds are quite tall, but have a fairly slim build. Caucasian Ovcharkas are quiet large, some in the 170 - 200 lb range. Some lines of Spanish Mastiffs are quite large as well. What do you think is the largest breed?

A. The Old English Mastiff is the LARGEST breed of dog in the world . .They can weigh anywhere from 110 pounds to the 343 pounds. Zorba,an English mastiff ,held the world record of the world's largest dog. Although most Mastiff males weigh around 160-230 pounds and females around 120-190 pounds. The height of a mastiff can range from 25 inches at the shoulder to 36 inches . The Irish Wolf Hound and Great Dane can be taller then the mastiff , but do not match the mastiff for weight and over all size . The mastiff is also one of the most powerful dog in the world . What is the largest set of multiple babies born?
Q. I would be interested to know both the largest set of mulitples conceived naturally and artifically. Are most triplets identical? What is the largest set of identical multiples to ever exist? Are their any foods that have proven to increase your chances of multiples?
Asked by Tina - Sun Jun 8 08:57:04 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The largest set of multiples said to have been conceived naturally was 12 in 1992. None survived. The largest unnaturally was 15 in Italy in the 70s. I do not know how many survived, but I would be surprised if any did. Largest set known to survive: Septuplets, the first being to Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey. This was with fertility treatments. Most triplets are NOT identical! Multiple births happen when either (a) the mother ovulates more than 1 egg and they are both fertilized, (b) the egg splits very early on in development to make identicals, or (c) In-vitro fertilization is used, many eggs are fertilized in a petri dish, and then they are implanted in the mother. The only way to get identicals is for the egg to split; only 25% of twins… [cont.]

What is the largest cylinder that can be made?
Q. I need to know the cylinder with the largest volume that can be made from 8 1/2 x 11in paper. I need to pretty much draw a net to scale, that would have the largest possible volume. Anyone know dimensions, or any idea how to do it?

A. 2piR = circumference With a sheet of given dimensions you will either have a circumference of 8 1/2 inches and height of 11 inches, or a circumference of 11 inches and a height of 8 1/2 inches. solve for radius pi is approximately 3.14 2 pi r = 8 1/2 = 17/2 pi r = (17/2) / 2 = 17/4 r = 17/4pi 2 pi r = 11 pi r = 11 / 2 r = 11/2pi pi r = area area x height = volume so pi r h = volume pi (17/4pi) x11 = v 289/16pi x11 = v 5.75 x 11 = v 63.25 = v pi (11/2pi) x 8.5 = v 121/4pi x 8.5 = v 9.63 x 8.5 = v 81.86 = v

What is the largest 5 digit perfect square that is divisible by 9?
Q. Can someone please tell me how to solve this problem, step by step, starting with how I would find the largest 5 digit perfect square?
Asked by Jess C - Mon Jun 30 21:16:54 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. 99225 is the answer. You get this by taking the largest 5 digit number 999 and taking the square root of of it which is not perfect at 316.22618. Then using the rule that any number whose sum of it's numbers that is divisible by 9 is also divisible by 9, so counting back from 316.226, the first number divisible by 9 is 315. Multiply that times itself to get 99225, the largest 5 digit perfect square divisible by 9.

What is the largest power of 5 that divides the product of the first 100 positive integers?
Q. I need help on how to solve this problem, can you please explain how you did so I can understand. Power of 5 is like 5^x and remember, it's the LARGEST power of 5 that DIVIDES the PRODUCT of 1x2x3...98x99x100. Thanks! The product of those integers is a multiple of 5 because I've found a pattern showing it would end with 0. I still don't have the answer though.
Asked by Ayereiss K - Thu Jun 25 16:40:07 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The only numbers that contribute to this power of 5 are those that are multiples of 5. There are 100/5 = 20 multiples of 5. Also, multiples of 25 = 5^2 contribute another power of 5 apiece. There are 100/25 = 4 multiples of 25. So, the largest power of 5 dividing 100! is 20 + 4 = 24.

Q. I am curious to know of what is the largest crossover comic released to date. I am referring to licensed crossovers, just to let you know. I have one thing to ask, please try to find one that has more than three different series from three different companies, Like DC, Marvel, and Dark Horse.

A. This is sort of a non-answer, but I'd like to point out that the Wikipedia page for "intercompany crossover" already has a fairly extensive list. By "largest" I suppose you mean "involving the most characters" or "involving the most publishers"; the vast majority seem to be between no more than two companies, but it's hard to be sure since the list is by character and the corresponding owner is not indicated or immediately obvious.

What is the largest/smallest possible increase in the money supply that could result?
Q. The Federal Reserve conducts a $10 million open-market purchase of government bonds. If the required reserve ratio is 10%, what is the largest possible increase in the money supply that could result? What is the smallest possible increase? Why?
Asked by belle2486 - Thu Mar 26 15:09:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If all 10 million is applied to increased government spending the maximum increase would be 10 million x spending multiplier of 10 = 100 million maximum. If all 10 million is applied to tax cuts the maximum increase would be 10 million x tax multiplier of 9 = 90 million maximum. Spending multiplier (1/mps) is greater than the tax multiplier (mpc/mps).

A. number of cows = c number of turkeys = t legs = 4c + 2t heads = c + t heads = legs - 35 c + t = 4c + 2t - 35 3c + t - 35 = 0 t = 35 - 3c there cant be negative turkeys so 35 - 3c > 0 3c < 35 c < 35/3 c < 11.666... so 11 is max number of cows I'm surprised no one else is getting this right! For that reason have a star!
