Hair!!!!!!!!?
Q. does anyone know where i can get a japanese hair perm done in seattle for about $300.00? P.S. my hair is curly but can get very straight when i flatten it. i was planning in investing for one, but i need to know more information on it like, how long would it take, would it work well in my hair etc. if you ever had one, would you reccomend it for my texture hair??? please help:) thanks

A. If your hair is very curly, perms can look uber-fake..plus they don't really last that long, especially for the price. My hair is crazy, but I got a Chi Straightener and it works amazingly. Plus they're about 100$ and last much longer than a perm. The time depends on length, and also how good you are at it. As you get better/more experienced, it takes less time. I'm not, like, whoring out that particular brand, it's just that I've had a few and this works the best on getting rid of the poofiness..and you could probably find them at a lot of hair salons in Seattle..

A. Let's see.. what's your favorite color? maybe you should use that. But if you don't want people to think your obsessed with that color and you have a dark hair color i would think you should go with either: blue purple dark green[if they have it where you live] or yellow not a deep yellow

What hair styles do most girls find cute?
Q. I'm a guy, and I have long, black hair. I was just wondering if some girls find guys with long hair cute, what style should I make my hair of? Of course I won't cut my hair. But should I put it up in a low ponytail? Or a braid with some of my hair hanging down on the sides of the front of my face? Should I just leave it down, and maybe put in some red or green highlights? Or white or blonde? Should I dye it a different colour? Please give me your suggestion.

A. Dark brown almost black hair with bangs. Shorter in the back and longer in the front. Collarbone length. The style is totally in!

What are some inexpensive hair products that will keep my hair healthy?
Q. I have always had very healthy hair and I have only dyed it a few times. I now prefer to leave it at it's natural color as dyes are not good for your hair. My main concern is that, while my hair is healthy, my sister's hair is not and she has never dyed her hair. We are both looking for products that can promote healthy hair and keep out hair healthy. Does anyone know of any inexpensive products that do this?

A. You do not have to use expensive products to keep your hair healthy. Healthy hair starts with a good hygien of life. Like everything else about true, lasting beauty, healthy hair begins within your body. Start with your diet. Include lots of green leafy vegetables and sweet juicy fruits. Dairy products such as milk and fresh yogurt will also help. Fresh coconut is also considered excellent "hair food" sprinkle grated coconut over salads, diced fresh fruit, or rice. Cut down on refined, processed and canned foods. Ice-cold beverages also hamper the process of digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Cooking with certain spices adds flavor to your food and provides nourishment for your hair. Cumin, turmeric and black pepper are… [cont.]

Is there a certain way to use hair rollers or a curling iron?
Q. When using hair rollers is there a certain way to part your hair? Do you part your hair from the middle or comb it back and start from the back with no parting of the hair? I put a couple of Velcro rollers in my hair and for some reason they start to slip down? Any advice on making them stay put in the hair tightly (I even used bobby pins)? Also is there any other advice specific to Velcro rollers? I have straight hair, so are there any hair types that rollers don t work on? And about curling irons are you supposed to start from the tip of the hair and roll up or from the top of the hair and wind the other hair around?
Asked by Autumn - Thu Jan 4 18:43:43 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. i dont use velcros but i do love my curling iron. i dont typically use it the way most ppl do. Instead of clipping the section into the iron, what i do is hold the section of hair and wind it on the outside of the curler, it creates a more natural curl. After u finish each section spritz it with a curling hairspray.

What hair dye colour will have the least reaction with pool chlorine?
Q. I bleached my hair yesterday and today I am planning to buy a permenant dye to go over the top. I am going to Spain one month from today and am planning to swim. My sister told me that red dye will fade in the pool and that I will be better off with blonde, because after it's been in a month it won't be affected by the chlorine. I've been googling it a little bit and some sites say dyed blonde hair can always be affected by chlorine, even if you wait a while. I haven't really found much about red dye. I'd rather have faded red hair than blonde-turned-green hair, I guess! But will it not matter what goes on the top because it'll be the bleach I already have that counts? I already read some other tips on here about putting fresh water on… [cont.]

A. First of all, if you put a red colour on top of bleached hair, after a few shampoos, you will have pinky-orange hair. Any colour can be affected by chlorine, it can depend on a lot of things, such as the type and strength of the chlorine, and your own body chemistry. The best thing that you can do to help prevent this from happening is to use either a clairifying shampoo, or a purple shampoo. Try Shimmer Lights, or So Silver, they will help counteract the chlorine trying to make your hair green. Another thing that you should do is to coat your hair in conditioner before going into the water. You can do this either with a thick cream conditioner, combed through your hair, or with a spray leave-in conditioner. This creates a barrier that… [cont.]

How come my hair grows faster underneath than the top of my hair?
Q. The underneath grows so much faster than the top of my hair. But something that is even more weird is that my bangs grow really fast too but not the top of my hair. Weird how can I make my hair grow? I dont die it I wash my hair every 2 or 3 days because the oils in your hair will help your hair stay healthy and shinny. But I dont know how to make it grow. Haha Thank you!
Asked by Happy2help - Wed Mar 18 16:00:58 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Perfectly simple answer - The bottom of your hair is more protected than the top. When you comb out your hair, or when it is tied in a pony tail, it is always exposed to more brushing, more elements like sun, pulling etc. Make sense? Also try using hair oil available in pharmacies. We have a shampoo used for horses in our pharmacies here in South Africa (sounds crazy, doesn't it?!) and it works wonders because your hair grows twice as fast as it would naturally.

How much human and synthetic hair is in a blended extensions?
Q. I recently purchased hair extensions. I didn't have much cash on me to purchase human hair so I bought human hair + blended. Which means it's human hair and synthetic hair mixed together. I was wondering if it were more synthetic hair or more human hair. I can straightening it if I like to, but I just have to set it on low heat. Is there more human hair or more synthetic hair in this? Or is it equal?
Asked by unknown - Thu Jul 9 14:15:51 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hello, If you are having to set your flat iron on a low setting then there is more synthetic hair then human. If you look at the price difference between the "all" human hair extensions and the mix that should give you an idea. Just be super careful using hot tools on your extensions because if there is a lot of synthetic hair you run the risk of actually melting the hair. Use the lowest setting possible and try not to style it everyday try doing it every other or every 2 days you shouldn't need to wash/clean it more then that.

A. Use thickening cleansing agents. There are many shampoos and conditioners on the market that are geared towards helping an individual thicken her hair. They can be bought at hair salons or some drug stores. Nioxin and Rogaine are among the most popular ones. The key to success with these products is using them regularly.

How is the hair for human hair extenions and human hair wigs obtained?
Q. Lately I have seen a lot of advertisements for human hair extensions. Paris Hilton and Jessica Simposon have their own line. Other brands are available in national chain drug stores. It just seems like extremely large amount of human hair. Does anyone know if is mixed female and male hair? Is it from adults or children? Who are these companies buying this hair from? How much money do the people selling their get? I would like any answers to any of these questions. I am concerned that people in poverty are being exploited for them.
Asked by ambivalentambiance - Sat Sep 22 00:33:33 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You are right, poor people in 3rd world countries are exploited for this. They have the thickest, strongest hair. It takes at least seven years to grow enough hair to sell. The people who do this, usually do it for a life time, and do not get paid much for it. It is, however, enough for them to continue doing this. It's possible there are males who do this, but men around the world usually wear their hair short, so I doubt it would be many of them. Also, some wig makers sneak synthetic fibers into wigs, so not all the wigs that claim to have human hair, have 100% human hair. Just like toys are supposed to have no lead in the paint, wigs can be deceptively made, too. The cheaper the wig claiming to have human hair in it, the less likely… [cont.]

What are some good hair straightening products?
Q. My hair is just a tad bit wavy, but it prevents me from doing what I want my hair to do. I have side bangs that I flat iron every morning, so then I normally flat iron all of my hair. But the problem is, I'm going to Quebec next week with some people from school, and I know that my roomates aren't going to want me to take even longer getting ready by flat ironing my hair each morning. Are there any good hair problems that straighten hair, and actually work? Or are there any tips to keep my hair, especially my bangs, from getting wavy?

What is best for coloring hair- going to the salon or a home kit?
Q. I have dark brown long hair with layers. It is also naturally curly and a little coarse in texture. I started getting a few gray hairs along my part and on my bottom layers. You can see the gray hair more when I pull it up in a ponytail. I have gotten my hair highlighted in the past and it really made my hair unhealthy. I have also colored it in the past and the kit I used really didn't cover up the few gray hairs I have. It was nice and easy. What is the best thing to do for my hair type? Any suggestions?
Asked by sheal34 - Fri Sep 7 09:36:52 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I prefer to dye my own hair because I have ultimate control over the colour, but if you have never dyed your hair before I don't suggest it. You have to understand colour, what strength developer to use and you also have to be comfortable with the application (technique) which can be difficult. If you would be interested in dyeing your own hair you should go to a beauty supply store and read the bottles! You can pick out the colour and the level of developer you want but be sure to read those bottles too! And ask questions- hopefully the employees would be able to give you some helpful advise. When you apply it it helps to have a friend make sure you're getting even coverage.

How can I stop my hair from being greasy the day after washing it?
Q. I have a bit of a long story... Back in May 2005 I got my hair permed. It didn't look good and it was bad for my hair so I've been letting it grow out. I recently got tired of having to straighten it or go out with ugly looking curls so I cut about 6 or 7 inches off and my hair is now around my shoulders. I just got an extra inch cut off a couple of weeks ago and I've noticed that I have some split ends. I only straighten my hair once a week and usually I let it air dry. But I've also heard that you shouldn't wash it everyday. My problem is that my hair is very fine and can be oily and if I don't wash my hair everyday it looks very greasy. Does anyone have advice on how to stop my hair from looking greasy the second day, or products I… [cont.]

A. Try using something like shikakai (a plant powder from India) or rhassoul (a moroccan clay). It's very different from conventional shampoo, but it's so much more effective on keeping your hair clean. I used to wash my hair every other day, now with rhassoul I only wash it once a week and the shine, bounce and volume are amazing.
