What food coloring colors result in a peanut butter-like brown?
Q. I have red, yellow, green, and blue gel food coloring. I want to make a cake that looks like a jar of peanut butter, but I'm stumped when it comes to mixing the correct ratio of colors into white icing to get a color similar to that of peanut butter. Any ideas?

What are the best makeup colors and application styles for my coloring?
Q. Hello. I have dark blue almost gray round eyes. My hair is dark blonde and light brown, commonly called dirty blonde. My face is oval. My skin is light beige. What are the best makeup colors and applications styles for eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush, mascara, and lipgloss for my coloring?

A. Well, you want to stay as natural as possible for during the day. And if you re going out for something special or just feel like dressing up, then you can use a heavier/darker shade of make-up for that. For your skin colour, eye and hair colour I would suggest trying this: During the day - EYES: For your blue/gray eyes, I would go for a neutral shade like CoverGirl 'Shimmering Sands' eyeshadow. This colour of shadow is neutral and looks the way it sounds -'Shimmering Sands' its some what of a beige/brown/sandy colour. It is a 3 shade eyeshadow, the middle shade goes on your eyelid, the darker shade goes in the crease and the lighter shade is supposed to go under your eyebrow. BUT I don't ever use the lightest shade because it is too… [cont.]

Can I use regular food coloring instead of paste food coloring?
Q. I'm planing on making these adorable santa cookies but the recipe calls for paste food coloring and all I have is the "regular kind" Like the liquid stuff. Can I use that instead of paste food coloring?
Asked by Emily S - Fri Dec 19 18:24:47 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The color won't be as strong, and liquid stuff may make whatever (I'm not sure if you are adding the coloring to the cookie or the icing) you are making softer/looser.

How do I use a gel food coloring like a normal, liquid food coloring for Red Velvet Cupcakes?
Q. I have this recipe for red velvet cupcakes and it says to use 2 oz of red food coloring, but I only have the gel food coloring formula. Does anyone know how to get the gel to mix well with the cocoa powder?? It says the cocoa powder and food coloring should make a thin paste, but with the gel I'm not getting any kind of paste... : (
Asked by E. - Sun Feb 14 11:20:45 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Food coloring is available at the grocery stores in the baking aisles they also carry a 4 pack with red green blue and yellow, some stores especially here in the south carry the 2 oz bottle of red alone because red velvet cakes are so popular down here .At Walmart in the cake decorating aisle they have paste coloring which is much stronger for coloring frostings you would use much less but also a food coloring. with the paste use a toothpick and just a smidgen at a time until you achieve the desired results but if it is liquid like the kind you get in the grocery, you use the entire bottle(2oz) I have never use gel but you can mix the gel with your liquid ingredients like eggs ,milk, vanilla etc

what hair coloring product should i use if i have black hair wanting to go red?

Asked by Donna - Mon Oct 29 10:28:54 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If your hair is already dyed black you can't go lighter unless you go to a professional to have the black color lifted with bleach then the new color can be applied. I would not recommend this. It is very, very damaging to the hair. This is not a procedure you can do at home...consult a professional

What kind of food coloring is safe to put in sugar water for hummingbirds?
Q. I was told certain brands of food coloring are bad for hummingbirds, may kill them. What is a safe one to use?
Asked by Beth - Fri Apr 27 15:58:13 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Acutally, you don't have to color the water at all. If any part of your feeder is bright red or bright yellow, it will attract the hummers and you won't have to worry about "poisoning" them with artificial colors in the liquid.

A. Ordinary shaving cream will take it out, read on: Step1After you are finished using food coloring you may notice major stains on the table, your hands, clothes and maybe even the floor. Don't panic! Pull out ordinary shaving cream, this will do the trick. Step2Due to peroxide and other chemicals in the shaving cream it has the power to wipe out nasty food coloring stains if not fade them. Spray a generous amount over the stain and let sit up to 5 minutes. Step3After the 5 minutes, if the stain was on the table or floor, use a dry cloth and start rubbing away. You will see the food coloring start to fade and then eventually disappear. Step4If the food coloring was set into your hands, wash them with shaving cream and cold water. This… [cont.]

A. Use a soft scrub brush (like one for nails) and lots of warm soapy water. If that doesn't work, then mix 1tbs bleach with 1 cup of water and scrub away. Good luck!

How can I remove food coloring from jeans?
Q. A girl took my friend's red food coloring pen and decided to make a nice blotch on my jeans with it. I evened it out and tried to make it look like a heart so I could survive without questions for the day. I went home and then threw it in the laundry, hoping that it'd come out with a little extra Tide detergent. The laundry is done now, and there's still a pink blob there! Is there any way I can remove this using things I have at home? Any help would be great, thanks!

A. You may or may not have this at home but I think, short of bleach, it's your only hope - Oxiclean. It's the only product I've had luck with when dealing with nasty stains. Follow the directions on the packaging until the stain is gone and don't run them through the dryer until it's gone. Hope that helps.
