Temporary work or temporary employment refers to a situation where the employee is expected to leave the employer within a certain period of time. Temporary employees are sometimes called "contractual" or "seasonal" or "freelance" or "temps." Agricultural workers are often temporarily employed for harvesting. In some instances, temporary professional employees (particularly in the white collar fields, such as law, engineering, and accounting) even refer to themselves as "consultants." This is not to be confused with actual consultants (such as management consultants) who are salaried employees of major, prestigious consulting firms (e.g. Bain and Company, The Boston Consulting Group). They may work full-time or part-time, depending on the individual case. In some instances, they are given benefits (such as health insurance), but usually the best treatment is reserved for the permanent employees. Not all temporary employees find jobs through a temporary Employment agency. For example, a person can simply apply at a local park for seasonal jobs. A temporary work agency, or temp agency or temporary staffing firm finds and retains workers. Other companies, in need of short-term workers, contract with the temp agency to send temporary workers, or temps, on assignment to work at the other companies. Temporary employees are also used in work that has a cyclical nature that requires frequent adjustment of staffing levels. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I need to know, Do temporary employment agencies I worked in the past steal my job opportunities? That means whenever I am to give references of history of the company I used to work. I was told that the temporary employment agencies offer the company someone else in my place so that they can earn the commission. Yet, they still haven't found me a job, and stolen a possibility of an income to start paying off my monthly debt. Asked by SweetBrunette - Sun May 20 20:55:37 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Sweet Brunette...believe me, the temp agencies "do not" have your best interest in mind. They are commission based organizations. You come across as smart and willing to work. I run a Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, and Lexus Dealership. And I have only used a temp place once. I run an add in the paper for any positions I need. Go to the paper or local businesses and walk in like you own the place. Dress to the nines and talk to whoever is in charge. There is always an opening that needs to be filled. If you need other ideas , hit me up here...GOOD LUCK..and do not put your future in the hands of a temp service.
