How to play a better B and C on the clarinet?
Q. I mean the middle B and C (the two just over the break with most fingers shut). I have played for a few years and I want to know what to practice to make my B and C come out more easily and so I can play them quickly.

A. Breath support is usually the answer. Make sure you are sitting up straight, and breathe in deeply. Push from your diaphragm. Try putting more mouthpiece in your mouth.

How do i make a bad B clarinet reed good?
Q. I play the B Clarinet, and i bought a box of all bad reeds except for 2 of them!! Is there a way that i can make them good again? I bought the exact brand (Rico) and size (3) that i usually use, but one 2 of them were good! Also, how do i make it easier to switch octaves? I have a hard time going from A to B.

A. As others have said, there's a reason Rico are less expensive than Vandoren and you just found it. Some reeds can be saved by sanding or clipping the tips but most can't. A badly made reed is just a bad reed. What you're referring to as "switch octaves" is called "playing over the break". The easiest way to develop your skill there is to practice half-scales repeatedly every day as part of your practice session. Go from G-C (G a b c b a g), F-C (F G A Bb C Bb A G F), Ab - D (Ab Bb C D C Bb Ab), A-E (A B C# D# E D# C# B A), etc... and the chromatic G-D. Doing this everyday as part of your routine gets you more accustomed to making the jump. Don't forget to use both fingerings for B and C up there.

How much will the piston be pushed up point b compared to its height at point a?
Q. The gas in the engine is heated to a higher temperature. As the gas is heated, it expands pushing the syringe piston up. Let's assume that this process is isobaric. The temperature of the gas at point a is 20.2 C, and the gas temperature at point b is 59.7 C. If the diameter of the syringe piston is 1 cm and the volume of the gas at point b is 26.1 cm3, how much will the piston be pushed up at point b compared to its height at point a?
Asked by Blue - Sun Nov 29 14:41:44 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. PV/T is constant. In a constant pressure process, V1/V2 = T1/T2 ==> V1 = V2T1/T2 = 26.1*(20.2+273.15)/(59.7+ 273.15) = 23.003 cm^3. Take the difference between this value and 26.1 cm^3, and divide the result by the piston area. The result is a piston stroke length of 3.097/(pi*0.5^2) = 3.944 cm.

When a B-lymphocyte cell produced antibodies, are the antibodies produced on the surface or released?

A. You may be getting too much of one of the different vitamin B's and that is causing your headache. Quit taking the vitamins and see if the headache goes away. It may be that or it may be that you just have a headache unrelated to the vitamins.

What does the coefficient "b" stand for in a standard quadratic equation?
Q. I mean in a graph, what does it stand? How does the b change how the parabola looks?
Asked by trecko a - Mon Oct 20 18:13:39 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. it is the number that proceeds the x term. in x^2+2x+1 it would be 2. It changes the graph located around the origin, or when x is relatively small either positive or negative. Once x gets really big or really negative the x^2 has much more dominance over the range and the graphs will be more similar.

How much start A should give B so that the race ends in dead heat?
Q. A and B have a race on a circular track of 510 meters.A who runs faster meets with B in the middle of the 5th round. Now in a 3 kM race how much start A must give B so that the race ends dead heat, i.e. A and B reach the goal at the same time.

A. what do you mean by the fifth round, do you mean the fifth lap? I am interpreting your question to mean that A completes 4.5 laps when B completes 3.5 laps. This means that A travels 45/35 or 9/7 faster than B. Thus, we can write the distance equations for A and B as: A must travel x+3 km in the same time as B travels x km; A travels at 9/7v and B travels at v, so: x+3=9/7 vt 3=vt =>t=3/v substitute this expression for t into the first equation and get: x+3=9/7v*(3/v)=27/7 x=27/7-3=6/7 km A must start 6/7 km farther back; or A must travel 9/7 farther than B to finish at the same time, and 9/7x 3 = 3 6/7 km

What's the difference between the B-cell receptor and antibodies?
Q. I don't understand what B-cell receptors are, and how they relate to antibodies. Do they have a similar structure? Are they one and the same?
Asked by Janet P - Fri Apr 16 12:42:37 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The B-cell receptor is a transmembrane receptor protein located on the outer surface of B-cells. The receptor's binding moiety is composed of a membrane-bound antibody that, like all antibodies, has a unique and randomly-determined antigen-binding site. When a B-cell is activated by its first encounter with an antigen that binds to its receptor (its "cognate antigen"), the cell proliferates and differentiates to generate a population of antibody-secreting plasma B cells and memory B cells.

A. Hepatitis A is contracted through ingesting contaminated food or water. It resolves on its own with no major future consequences. Hep B is contracted through sexual contact and blood. There is a vaccine to prevent transmission. It can cause liver disease. Hepatitis C is contracted through blood contact and can lead to liver failure and cancer. There is no vaccine or cure. What is the difference between the morning after pill and plan b?
Q. I've taken the morning after pill twice 5 years ago, and I remember feeling very, very sick and experiencing very excruciating stomach pains just hours after taking the pill, not to mention bleeding for up to two weeks thereafter. It is something I definitely do NOT want to experience again. However, I had sex last night and the condom leaked and I am afraid of getting pregnant. What is the difference between the morning after pill and plan b? Will plan b give me the same kind of pains as the morning after pill? Can anyone who has taken both of these pills share the experiences? Thanks in advance.

How do I determine which side is a, and which side is b on right triangles?
Q. I had learned all about Geometry last year, but it turns out I have forgotten a lot of it. I understand Sin Cos Tan (sohcahtoa), but I have a problem when it comes to choosing which sides of the triangle are a or b. Does anyone have any helpful tips that will help me prevent switching the a and b sides?

A. you can name any side you want with. and there is no set rule . as long you know that angle against the side which is not touching to make an angle gets name from side just opposite. did i confused enough!
