Are there any associations one can join that would then give you access to group health insurance?
Q. From my research so far, it appears that if you have a group health care coverage, it tends to be cheaper than if you have to buy the insurance yourself. For example, a family of 4 may pay as much as $700 a month or more for some decent coverage, but perhaps group coverage from your employer may cost you $400 or so. But if your employer does not offer it, are there any associations that offer health insurance to their members? Associations that anyone can join?

A. i live in indiana; the AARP plan is only a supplemental plan or they offer a hospital plan that from i read is basically a supplemental plan also; my husband has parkinsons disease and uninsurable in the state of indiana; i am healthy and filled out a individual application and was surprised that they needed a 10 year history of every illness or exam i ever had; i was suprised since auto and home is only 3 years, but calculated that if someone had cancer and was over the 5 year survival rate, they would be uninsurable since they had had cancer; i found out the hard way that if you have a pre-exisiting condition, they cannot insure you on an individual policy in the state of indiana; you are then able to go to the assigned risk pool… [cont.]

Are there any outdoor recreations associations in Singapore?
Q. I like outdoor recreations(like hiking, trekking, etc.) but it seems like Singapore has none of those associations and it's also hard to find just even a group. So, is there any outdoor recreations associations in Singapore?

A. There are a group of people who are called the Hash House Harriers and they go for runs around places like McRitchie etc. Check the website link below. Their website does however say that they're men only which is strange because I knew a woman who was a member a while ago (perhaps they've changed the rules), but you could contact them and ask if there are other groups which allow women. How about dragon boats? They're always looking for rowers. There's also the SingaporeExpats website which is a discussion forum and if you wanted to find like-minded people, you could post your info on there and see if anyone else is interested in joining you. Even if you are not an expat, they don't mind.

Why do Conservatives want Senator McCain to focus on Obama's past associations ?
Q. None of these associations have caused the lives of 4,000 Americans in a War that never should have been. The Iraq war was started on false pretenses. It has cost over 1 trillion dollars and our economy has collaspe.
Asked by Real Truth - Tue Oct 7 10:27:11 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Seeing how the polling numbers are going, the McCain camp is making their final, desperate moves to save the sinking ship. This is likely McCain's last hurrah as a politician. If he doesn't win this time, it's not likely he'll be nominated again, even if he runs. That being the case, he'll likely try anything he can to win.

Should homeowners in associations band together to lobby the legislature to protect us from sick HOA boards?
Q. HOA and Condo lawyers have formed their own lobbying group, the Community Associations Institute, to stop any laws that protect homeowners from the crazy conduct of sick HOA boards. HOAs do not protect our property values, in fact they can take our home for fees or fines they can invent.
Asked by MikeR - Sun May 10 18:50:20 2009 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments

A. While I agree that there are problems with some HOA Boards, the bigger problem, in my opinion, is owners who buy without any idea of what an HOA is, or what their rights are. When you buy a home in a covenant controlled community, your ownership rights are limited. Those limits are clearly defined in the legal documents that many or most people don't bother to read. Living in a covenant controlled community is a trade-off. You give up some of your rights as an individual to do whatever you want with your property, and in return, you gain some measure of control or predictability over what your neighbors can do. If you are the sort of fiercely independent person who does not want to submit an application form before you change paint… [cont.]

is it wrong for insurance associations to show their members contact details?
Q. Is it wrong for Insurance associations to list all of their life insurance agents name, address, hp number and email address for the general public to access? Why some insurance companies do not want to disclose?
Asked by K_Z b - Sun Dec 2 06:54:59 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No it is not wrong. Most insurance professionals would want to have their contact information readily available to the general public. There are many reasons to join an insurance association one of them being that you gain some professional credibility by being a member. No reason to keep your membership in the association a secret.

So, are we going to go down the road of problematic past associations?
Q. Is McCain sure that he wants to go down this path? His and Palin's backgorund associations are not exactly snow white.
Asked by socar50 - Fri Oct 10 20:24:03 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Theirs may not be snow white, but they cannot compare with Obama's. You cannot compare Parsley or Hagee to Wright. People obviously don't understand that McCain did not sit in their churches for 20 years listening to them. He didn't state they were like uncles or they married him and his wife. No comparison what so ever. ***

Q. Why do affinity groups and/or trade associations need insurance?
Asked by Veda P - Tue May 12 23:10:48 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, they can get sued! And, they have "stuff" that can burn, or get stolen! And they have an office, and the landlord will require it! And they usually have a few permanent employees, which requries workers comp! Same as any other business - they have exposures, so they buy insurance.

What happens with homeowner's associations when condos foreclose?
Q. Are the people who still live there supposed to pick up the slack? Or would whoever eventually buys it owe money for past due home owners' association fees? If either is the case, it seems like a condos in towns with a lot of foreclosures would be almost impossible to sell, and it seems like it would be a problem for the other people who aren't foreclosing on their condos.
Asked by orazorca - Fri Oct 12 00:00:01 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The back condo fees get deducted from the sale. So if there was a foreclosure on a condo, that unit would be sold for say $300K to a new owner and the $2,000 in back home owner association fees paid to the association, then $298K goes to the bank holding the mortgage. The condo association needs to have this as a bylaw to ensure they have a first charge on back dues -- most do. But, you are correct, if enough units go into foreclosure and are not sold, then the association might not have enough reserve funds to run the building. Then it would get messy. The association would issue a "special assessment" fee to the remaining unit holders to get the funds needed to run the building. These special assessments make the entire building less… [cont.]

How do I stop programs such as WinAmp overriding my preferences for file type associations?
Q. Everytime I use programs such as WinAmp or RealPlayer they override the preferences or defaults I have set for my file associations. I know how to reset them, but it doesn't stop it happening again the next time I use one of those programs. I prefer to use WindowsMediaPlayer for movie & video files but WinAmp for music files. It seems each program wants to be the default for all file types and doesn't like sharing! In the past I have overcome the problem by uninstalling RealPlayer and Quicktime but this stops me from opening some files on sites such as the BBC. How can I stop this happening, simply? I only have Windows98SE and have never tinkered with the registry before.

A. After launching WinAmp, click on "Options" in the menu bar and select Preferences in the pulldown menu. Click on "File Types" in the list on the left. On the right side of the dialog box uncheck the checkbox labeled "Restore file associations at WinAmp startup." You may also want to unselect the file types shown on the left that you don't want associated with WinAmp.
